Fun Walk sets record and raises £44,000
20 July 2009
On Friday evening, John Baron and his Committee handed out bonus cheques to around the 75 local charities and good causes which participated in this year’s Fun Walk held in May at Barleylands Farm. The bonus money was over and above what the charities raised themselves and was kindly donated by Veolia ES Cleanaway [lead sponsor], A & B Taxis, Mr Barrie Stone, GKM Aerospace, Obsidian Communications, South West Essex PCT, Stock Brook Manor and Toomey Motors. The total money raised came to £44,000 [up from £33,000 raised last year]. The presentation took place at the meetings rooms, behind the Rising Sun Pub, Billericay High Street.
John said:
“Raising £44,000 is a record and tremendous achievement which will help many good causes and people less fortunate than ourselves. Our thanks go to all who made it possible but especially our sponsors Veolia ES Cleanaway [lead sponsor], A & B Taxis, Mr Barrie Stone, GKM Aerospace, Obsidian Communications, South West Essex PCT, Stock Brook Manor and Toomey Motors for their generosity.”
